Streamlining Productivity at the Laundromat

You’re a busy person, we get that. And spending a few hours a week at the laundromat probably isn’t the way you want to use your time. Just think of all of the things you could be knocking off your “to-do” list in that time you spend at the laundromat. Fear not, we’ve got you covered on how you can streamline productivity at the laundromat so that you can get home and have more time to spend on other things. Here’s a look at some tips and tricks to get your laundry done faster:

  • Pre-sort: Don’t throw all your laundry together in the basket or in a bag and then sort it when you get there. Arrive with it already pre-sorted, so you can just toss it in the washers and begin the wash cycle once you arrive.
  • Shake it out: Any clothes that you have bunched up don’t dry as well, meaning you might have to stick around for another drying cycle when you think you’d be done. When you’re moving items from washer to dryer, don’t ball up clothes. Also, make sure to smooth out clothes that are balled or bunched up to maximize drying efficiency. Oh, and don’t forget to empty the lint trap to make your drying cycle go further.
  • Bring things to do: Don’t just show up to the laundromat with your dirty clothes and nothing else. Bring a book, your laptop, a tablet, make phone calls you’ve been putting off — just do something that you’d either otherwise have to do or that you’d want to do if you weren’t at the laundromat. Don’t let that time you’re waiting for your clothes to wash or dry go to waste. Instead, do your best to make the time work for you.
