How to Clean Your Baseball Cap in Time for the First Pitch

When the home team takes the field this season, they will be in top condition, just like their fans and gear should be — and, most importantly, their baseball caps.

With the baseball season starting up and heading into full swing, it is important that fans are dedicated to their look just as much as their players are to the game. In preparation for America’s greatest pastime, we compiled a list of tips and suggestions for keeping your baseball cap pitch perfect.

The winning play

For the most basic of baseball caps, the best method for cleaning is as follows:

  1. Fill a sink halfway full with cool water and bottle cap full of bleach-free detergent
  2. Apply pre-laundry spray to large stains
  3. Submerge the hat and gently massage the stains out by hand or with a toothbrush
  4. Dry first with hand towels and then place over a form-fitting object to maintain shape

Maintaining the sticker of authentication

Most fans take great pride in upholding the prestine condition of their team’s gear, especially the authenticity sticker. In order to maintain its condition, we recommend placing a small piece of plastic wrap over the sticker and then taping it down. Avoid using too much tape to ensure you can wash as much surface area of the cap as possible.

Baseball caps show who you’re rooting for, conveniently provide shade, and are always there for when the boys need a rally. Make sure your cap is in playing condition when the pitcher takes the mound or else it’ll be one, two, three strikes — and you’re out!
