Debunking Common Laundromat Myths

The laundromat is a key community staple, a place where hundreds of area residents venture each day to complete the necessary chore of doing their laundry. Despite how common it is to visit a laundromat to complete this chore, there are a lot of misconceptions about the laundromat and a lot of myths that get floated around. We’ve debunked many of the myths in this blog before, but we’re going to tackle a few more in this post. From safety to the time commitment involved when you visit the laundromat, here’s to debunking more common myths:

3 Common Myths About the Laundromat, Debunked

Myth 1: Laundromats Aren’t Safe

This is false for a few reasons. Let’s cover them both:

  • General safety: For some reason, laundromats have a reputation for being unsafe. This is hardly the case, especially when you visit one of our laundromats. In addition to adequate staffing, we also have security systems in place to help curb any potential suspicious activity before it even has a chance to occur.
  • COVID-19 safety: Secondly, our laundromats are taking the proper precautions to keep all patrons safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The bottom line is that the laundromat is indeed a very safe space.

Myth 2: Laundromats Aren’t Easily Accessible

Laundromats are perhaps more accessible than ever before, especially our line of them that are scattered all throughout the area. All you need to do is find the one nearest you, gather up your dirty laundry and come see us. It’s that easy to get there.

Myth 3: It’s Time Consuming to Do Laundry at the Laundromat

Unlike at home, it’s advised that you stay with your laundry at the laundromat to ensure nothing happens with it and to ensure that you’re able to quickly move it from washer to dryer, dryer to basket, etc. as a courtesy to others in the laundromat. So while it can be a bit more time-consuming, it’s an experience of what you make of it. Many people form their own little communities at the laundromat, getting together with friends at the same time every week to mingle and hang out as they complete this chore. Others use it as an escape from a busy house to get some downtime to read, stream TV or just relax and unwind.

We’ll say it again, your laundromat experience is what you make of it.
